Not Quite Yet...

Porter's long await 'last' surgery will not happen today...it wasn't meant to be.  We got up at 0:dark:30 on Wednesday morning, made a quick pot of coffee, and with the help of Grandpa Degan (who just arrived from Alaska) packed up and headed out for our rendezvous with the Children's Hospital at Pitt Memorial and the bad-ass surgeons that are affiliated with the ECU Heart Institute.  We are all too familiar with the in's and out's of checking in and 'pre-op' procedures.  The visit today was more centered around saying hello to all the familiar faces at the PICU, and then enjoying ourselves with a luxurious dinner at some Greenville hotspot (insert sarcasm here...).  That plan came to a hault after the PICU's head nurse heard Porter's cough and took his temp...101.  He's had the cough for awhile, and the temp we have attributed to another set of teeth that are shooting up out of his gums.  Regardless, after consulting with our surgeon the call was made to cancel surgery, and postpone until the new year.  This was the forth child the group had to cancel on today due to a cold/virus.  Better safe than sorry.  Oh well...we made the best of it, and bummed around a few stores in Greenville, then stopped by Ayden to visit the Skylight Inn...oh yea, its only the best bbq in the world...
