This weekend took lots of planning, juggling of schedules, and a bit of luck. Our good friend Jamie had reported to us this winter that we MUST meet up at a farm in Sampson County this spring for a weekend getaway. He had just visited
Jackson Farm to write and article about the owners Tom Jackson and Jan Mann for
NC Wildlife. After what seemed like hundreds of emails and calls, we settled on this past weekend to visit. As luck would have it, the weather was absolutely perfect.
Joining us was Jamie & Sue

Warren, Jenny, and little big man Lincoln

Leisure walks exploring the farm, wading knee deep in the pond, paddling around and casting to panfish, relaxing, and catching up with friends took up most of the time....

Tom specializes in refurbishing old farm houses, shed, and barns. If he can't refurbish, he reclaims the wood for other projects.

Broadhead skink hiding in some of Tom's reclaimed wood piles

Bluegill

Largemouth bass

The native azalea's were in full bloom....they smell soooooo good.

Jan made us a fantastic rabbit stew to accompany the venison loin Tom grilled...these aren't the exact bunnies we ate...just some relatives.

Fried bluegill fillets with some happy cow burgers mixed the with farms freshly harvested garlic
