Black Mountain

With Christmas in the rear-view mirror, we hit the road for Black Mountain, NC, to visit the Cameron's for New Years. Playing a few card games and catching up over Pisgah Brewery beers took up most of our time...as well as lounging around with the dogs. Perfect R&R.

Of course, we did manage to get outside a few times. One of our 'outings' took place at Carl Sandburg's House in Flat Rock, NC. It was a great place to walk off the outstanding brunch we had at Tom & Janet Cameron's earlier that day.

Jamie and I made it out for a 1/2 day small game hunt at a local Gamelands. It's been a long time since I've been able to stretch my legs out in hill country...and damn did it feel good. We had dreams of watching Maple flush a ruffed grouse, but the habitat and our limited time afield didn't yield any grouse. Instead, Maple decided to CATCH a quail. Who needs guns when you have Maple?!
