Showered with Love

When I first found out I was pregnant, I of course was very excited, but also a bit sad. Not because of the pregnancy, but for the fact that I'm so far away from many of my friends and family (both locally and internationally), and I knew that many of them would not be around to share my pregnancy ups and downs. My good friends Emma and Salinda recently moved to different states, and, although the distance between Beaufort and Swansboro is a mere 50 minutes, it can seem like a lifetime away. Little did I know that three separate groups of friends and family in NC were planning three separate baby showers! I mentioned in some earlier posts that Barbie and Jenny threw us a great co-ed shower a couple of weekends ago, and my co-workers at CFCC surprised me with a shower at the beginning of May. Last, but certainly not least, my Mom-in-law, Barbara, and my future sister-in-law, Dana, threw me a beautiful brunch shower, complete with shower games, delicious food, and a decadent chocolate cake. Here are a few pictures of the festivities:

Game time! The first one was a competition to see who could guess the circumference of my belly. Sue was about 10 inches off! The winner was off by only one inch. The correct circumference, you ask? 35 inches.

The second game was called "Guess what baby had for lunch!" Naw, just kidding. It was called guess the chocolate bar. And, yes, the chocolate bars were appropriately melted in diapers. What a sight - a bunch of ladies sitting around doing this

And seeing this!! And for those who are wondering, this one is a Hersey's bar.

Then came gift opening time. What a beautiful assortment of both new and used, homemade and organic! And instead of cards, everyone gave a baby book instead. What a great idea!

Brian really enjoyed the wooden baby rattle from the Cameron's.

Now don't go thinking that the boys were there for all the festivities. While the girls were doing this

The boys were down on the dock doing this

They came up after their fishing and drinking fest to wish the mom-to-be good luck

And enjoy some cake!

In the afternoon, the family went down to the dock to take a dip and enjoy the beautiful weather.

And later that evening, we made a cast of my belly! Barb is going to make a belly bowl out of it!

All in all we had a great time, and I know I couldn't ask for anything more. I have family and friends that care about me, and for those that couldn't join us, I know we'll see each other soon!
