Nesting

Well, the waiting game has begun. I have finally finished teaching at CFCC for the summer, and I'm in full nesting mode! So far, I LIKE IT! There's nothing like sleeping in, wearing comfy clothes, napping, eating when and how much you want, napping, taking Maple for long walks, did I say napping? I guess my body is working overtime right now, 'cause all I want to do is eat and sleep. Don't worry...I've been doing all those other important things too - getting the nursery ready, doing laundry, exercising, drinking lots of water, cleaning - the typical nesting stuff.

As for Baby Degan, he/she is getting bigger every day and moving around A LOT! It's fun trying to figure out what's poking out - a knee, foot or elbow. We had an appointment last week and everything is coming along swimmingly. I'm still measuring about 1.5 weeks ahead (which is more in line with my due date calculations, as opposed to the 'average' calculations used by doctors), and the head is still down low in the pelvis (which it has been for most of the pregnancy). The homebirth kit arrived in the mail last week, and we've put together the crib that was given to us by Grandpa Degan. Hopefully by the time the baby arrives we'll have a mattress for it:

Our friends Barbie and Jenny threw us a beautiful baby shower this past weekend, and Mark and his dog Lonna were able to visit from Charlotte. The shower was great! We had a boatload of shrimp, a great selection of sides and beautiful weather. We couldn't have asked for a better day (well, except for a severe allergic reaction to pine nuts experienced by one of our friends - hope you're feeling better, Jim!!). A bunch of our friends chipped in on the most awesome shower gift ever - a lifetime sportsman license for Baby Degan! This kid is going to be a hunting and fishing fool!

As for our other kid, Maple got to meet her little sister this past weekend. Mark and Dana got a new puppy, Lonna, and she and Maple got along like peas and carrots! They played and played, and Maple finally got some payback for her puppy behavior years ago. Little Lonna knew exactly which buttons to push to rile Maple up! Here are a few pics and a video of the action:

Mark also brought us some succulent salmon that Don sent from Alaska. Yum!!
